BOHO BABY

Blogging twice in one week! That has to be some sort of record for me.

I was chatting with a sweet friend, who is expecting her first child in November. She is planning her nursery, and she wants to do an eclectic mix of vintage and modern - which is my very favorite style to design. This particular friend (Shea Wright) is a super-talented photographer, who has THE best taste and the coolest house; so she really doesn't "need" any help. But since I love anything bohemian AND since I love to design interior mood boards....I decided to whip one up for her.

She has some green furniture that belonged to her grandmother that she would like to incorporate, so I decided to start there for the color palette. Shea and her husband, who is an architect, are in the process of building a new modern farmhouse. The walls will be white, with polished concrete floors. And the ceiling will have white wood with exposed beams (love). With everything being a clean slate, it seems only fitting to add some happy punches of color for the bambino's room. I love a really bright yellow mixed with the muted green and girly pinks. Most people would shy away from a colored crib. But if you chose a neutral color, like yellow, it can work for another child down the road.

Artwork in any room is so important for big impact. When I was designing my daughter Lola's room, I pulled the colors for the room directly from the large print I used. The same goes for this room. Michelle Armas is one of my favorite artists. Actually, it was hard to even pick just one for this room. There were several that would work well.

Shea mentioned that she would like to use something industrial and old for the changing table, and I adore that idea. It would allow for storage space for cute bins of diapers and the perfect spot for a changing pad. Plus, adding some industrial touches really meshes well with the style of her new house.

I can't wait to see what she ends up doing with the nursery. I know she will make it picture perfect.
